The River

Words and Music by Tony Stewart

Verse 1:

The servant told Naman to dip seven times

In that muddy old Jordan, and he would be all right.

Those sores on his flesh would then be gone

When Naman obeyed he came out with a song.

Chorus:

I'm going down to the river, Jordan deep and wide

Going down to the river, with Jesus by my side.

I'm going down to the river, to wash away my sin.

I'm going down to the river, I'm not coming back again.

Verse 2:

Many times wondrous miracles occurred

When Jesus walked in this old sinful world.

Scoffers tried their best to belittle our Lord

And make a mockery of His precious words.

Verse 3:

Still today the multitudes try

To say we don't need this old man to die.

But there is one thing that my heart craves

To take this old creature to a watery grave.
